FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED TO BOOK IN TO CLASS?

No, all classes on the timetable are drop-in. Just arrive 10-15 minutes before class to allow time to sign in, complete a registration form (for new students) and get settled on your mat.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?

All you need to bring is a water bottle and a towel. If you have your own yoga mat you are of course welcome and encouraged to bring it along, but we also have yoga mats available for use.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?

Comfortable, light workout clothes such as tights/shorts and t'shirt/singlet. Comfort is key. No shoes or socks are worn during yoga practice.

I'VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE AND I'M NOT FLEXIBLE! IS YOGA REALLY FOR ME?

If you have ever uttered the phrase "But I'm not flexible enough to do yoga" then yoga is most definitely for you! You might be surprised at what your body is capable of as it starts to open up from even the most basic postures! Besides, you don't need to be flexible to do yoga. Yoga will certainly help you to become more flexible, but it is not a prerequisite.

If you have never done yoga before, come along to our beginners class, during which we will guide you through foundational postures and sequences with a focus on proper alignment and building confidence. We recommend that you complete 6-8 beginners classes (undertaken on a weekly or twice weekly basis) before moving onto a vinyasa flow class.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTISE YOGA?

This is ultimately up to you based on your lifestyle, intentions and goals.

As with any physical, mental or spiritual practice, consistency is important if you would like to experience the longterm benefits.  As a starting point, practising yoga 1-2 times per week is great. If you would like to deeply immerse yourself in the physical, mental and healing benefits of yoga, a regular practice of 3-6 times per week will yield life-changing results.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOGA?

"It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence."

- B.K.S Iyengar

Yoga opens up a limitless realm of physical, mental and spiritual transformation. The following are just some of the benefits a regular yoga practice has to offer:

  • Increased strength, flexibility and mobility.

  • Healthy weight management.

  • Self-love and body acceptance.

  • Improved mood - get the happy chemicals and good vibes flowing through movement, sweat, breath and mind-body connection.

  • Stress and anxiety management - calm the nervous system through different breathing techniques.

  • Community - come to a space full of like-minded humans who are all striving for happiness, love and connection. Share your breath, love and energy with others in the studio.
